Columbia University: Mathematics and Literature graduated in the spring of 2016 I completed a comprehensive liberal arts degree concentrating in mathematics and literature. The classes required by my program were diverse and gave me a great foundation for teaching a comprehensive curriculum. My belief in and passion for education was shaped by world-class professors, and I believe in teaching entire subjects instead of just teaching for standardized tests. While I do still help kids with test-taking strategies and understanding test formats, I have found my approach results in more consistent and better long-term results.
Experience
Previous tutoring experience: During my time in school I tutored children of all backgrounds across Manhattan. In particular I concentrated on homework help for all subjects, standardized test preparation, and mathematics. My previous students have ranged from grades 4 through 12. Test scores: AP: Calculus AB – 5 Calculus BC – 4 English Literature and Composition – 4 World History – 4 ACT: Composition score – 33 English – 34 Mathematics – 35 Reading – 34 Science – 31 I love tutoring because I am passionate and excited about learning myself. It is always rewarding to have the opportunity to share this with other people. In particular, I am excited to share the incredible opportunities that education affords with the kids of my home town.

Hobbies
I grew up ski racing with the Winter Sports Club, and I am still an avid skier. My family owns a ranch and I grew up riding horses and competing in barrel racing, roping, and reining. In my spare time I read, hike, and draw. My mother is Russian and I grew up in a multicultural setting, speaking both English and Russian. I have traveled both for racing and for educational purposes. During the spring of my junior year I studied abroad in Istanbul, Turkey. My time in New York gave me the opportunity to vastly increase my perspective. I have gained respect for the vast diversity of the human condition and look forward to continue learning about the world.
